Influence on the Art World

In subway stations, would draw on black advertising panels with chalk

Opened the ‘Pop Shop’ where his designs are printed and sold on T- Shirts, backpacks, lunch boxes, posters etc.

Painted murals on children’s hospitals, office buildings and western side of Berlin Wall (before falling)

His art considered “example of the diminishing line between consumerism, popular culture, and fine art in the 1980s”

More artists after him started painting consumerism/ pop culture

Conclusion

Both mine and Haring’s art uses Bold Lines, Active Figures, Simple Signs and Intense/ Vibrant colors

I have learned even a painting that looks simple and easy, is hard work and difficult to complete with clean lines

It was most challenging to keep my patience when waiting for the paint to dry before adding another color. I found myself not fully waiting for it to dry, then accidently smudging the colors.

Principal Strength: the pop of bright, concentrated colors in the dancing figures because they look good against the green background

Principal Weakness: The black outlining because it’s not as crisp and clean cut as I would’ve liked it to be
