exported mainly to the US. The Mexican
shoe industry is important and has a

The shoe industry market in Mexico
generated a 2.7 billion dollar income in
2008 and recorded a 9.9 percentaverageannual growth rate between 2004 and
2008. It is estimated that it will sustain a10.4 percentaverage annual growth ratefrom 2008 to 2013, generating 4.5 billion
dollarsat the end of such period.
Regarding production volume, the
Mexican shoe market grew 9.1 percentbetween 2004 and 2008 and it produced
273.5 million pairs. It is estimated that it will
increase to 366.3 million pairsby the end of
2013, with an estimated6 percent averageannual growth rate between 2008 and
2013.
