    Mexican shoes started booming in the lastdecade. Since then, they have been

    exported mainly to the US. The Mexican

    shoe industry is important and has a

    2008 and recorded a 9.9 percentaverageannual growth rate between 2004 and

    dollarsat the end of such period.

    Regarding production volume, the

    Mexican shoe market grew 9.1 percentbetween 2004 and 2008 and it produced

    273.5 million pairs. It is estimated that it will

    increase to 366.3 million pairsby the end of

    2013, with an estimated6 percent averageannual growth rate between 2008 and
