Eventos trazem os temas água e habitaçãoTemas críticos da agenda global são tema da X-Week 2017, que celebra o sexto aniversário do Studio-X Rio e o quarto do Columbia Global Center. O acesso à Habi-tação está presente na abertura de três exposições onde questões como projeto, mercado e desigualdade são abordados, além de debates com especialistas. Outro grande desafio das cidades, o saneamento básico é discutido em palestra com foco em tecnologias alternativas de tratamento de águas servidas, e inclui também visita ao protótipo realizado no Sítio Roberto Burle-Marx com apoio do Studio-X Rio. Neste ano, a programação é uma parceria com o Columbia Global Center, Museu do Amanhã e Prefeitura da Cidade.

Events discuss the themes of water and housingMatters critical to the global agenda are the focus of X-Week 2017, which celebrates Studio-X Rio’s six-year anniversary and the fourth of Columbia Global Center. Access to housing is featured in the opening of three exhibitions that address such issues as design, the market and inequality and also feature debates with specialists. Another major challenge to cities, basic sanitation is the subject of a lecture that focuses on alternative technologies for the treatment of wastewater, which also includes a visit to a prototype created at Sítio Roberto Burle-Marx with support from Studio-X Rio. This year, the events schedule is the result of a partnership with the Columbia Global Center, the Museum of Tomorrow and the City of Rio de Janeiro.

HOUSE HOUSINGA exposição House Housing faz parte de um projeto de pesquisa conduzido pelo Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture da Universidade de Columbia, que tem a intenção de produzir uma discussão pública e historicamente informada sobre a interseção entre arquitetura e desenvolvimento imobiliário (real es-tate). A exposição traz uma cronologia ilustrada por documentos e objetos que revela repetições de temas, tendências e ações que nos lembram que as infraestruturas econômicas com as quais a arquitetura interage não são um campo natural a prio-ri, mas o resultado destas repetições. Estas infraestruturas colocam a arquitetura no centro do regime econômico corrente, onde os EUA são um nó influente de uma rede transnacional. Haverá painel com Jacob Moore (Buell Center, GSAPP), Carlos Feferman (FAU UFRJ) e Pedro Abramo (IPPUR).

HOUSE HOUSINGThe exhibition House Housing is part of a research project conducted by Columbia University’s Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture, with the intention of producing a public, historically informed discussion of the intersec-tion between architecture and real estate development. The exhibition features a timeline illustrated by documents and objects which reveal repeating themes, trends and actions, reminding us that the economic infrastructures with which architecture interacts are not a natural a priori field, but instead the result of these repetitions. These infrastructures place architecture at the center of a prevailing economic re-gime in which the U.S. is an influential knot in a transnational network. The exhibition opening will feature a panel discussion with Jacob Moore (Buell Center, GSAPP), Carlos Feferman (FAU UFRJ) and Pedro Abramo (IPPUR).

INFRAESTRUTURAS RESIDENCIAIS HÍBRIDAS NO RIO DE JANEIROA exposição é resultado do estúdio vencedor do prêmio de 2016 do American Institute of Architects, coordenado pelos professores Juan Herreros e Ignacio Galán no Me-strado em Arquitetura da Universidade de Columbia. Ele teve como ponto de partida a pesquisa “Lutar, Ocupar, Resistir”, idealizada pelo Studio-X Rio entre 2015 e 2016, que investigou os movimentos sociais que lutam pela moradia no Brasil, e investigou o tema “correções tipológicas” da arquitetura.

HYBRID RESIDENTIAL INFRASTRUCTURES IN RIO DE JANEIRO The exhibition is the result of the winner of the 2016 American Institute of Architects stu-dio prize, coordinated by professors Juan Herreros and Ignacio Galán at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. It was based on “Fight, Occupy, Resist,” a study conducted by Studio-X Rio from 2015 to 2016 examin-ing social movements that fight for housing in Brazil, as well as the theme of “typological corrections” in architecture.

VISITA GUIADA ÁGUAS CARIOCA com Ooze Architects ao protótipo que utiliza plantas para tratamento de águas servi-das no Sítio Roberto Burle-MarxEm Setembro de 2016 foi inaugurado o protótipo Água Carioca, que faz parte de uma extensa pesquisa sobre o uso de wetlands para filtrar águas servidas. O protótipo inclui plantas encontradas no próprio sítio e investiga as possibilidades desta tecnologia. O projeto tem apoio do Consulado Geral do Reino dos Países Baixos, Creative Industries Funds NL, Sítio Roberto Burle-Marx, Studio-X Rio e Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro.

GUIDED VISIT ÁGUA CARIOCAwith Ooze Architects to the prototype that utilizes plants to treat wastewater at Sítio Roberto Burle-Marx

In September of 2016, the prototype Água Carioca was inaugurated as part of a sweeping study of the use of wetlands to filter wastewater. The prototype includes plants found at the rural property and investigates the possibilities of this technolo-gy. The project is supported by the Consulate General of the Netherlands, Creative Industries Funds NL, Sítio Roberto Burle-Marx, Studio-X Rio and the City of Rio de Janeiro.

Ela fortalece as comunidades e produz resiliência. Dyonne Boy (ONG Grupo Cultural Jongo da Serrinha), Marcos Rosa (Curador da 11ª Bienal de Arquitetura de São Paulo), Maria Augusta Bueno (São Paulo Lab), Geisa Lino (Redes da Maré) e José Luis Vallejo (Ecosistema Urbano) falarão sobre os desafios e suas experiências em iniciativas participativas.

BOTTON-UP INITIATIVESRoundtable discussion unites specialists to address the challenges and strategies for the conception and participatory management of projects

Though still viewed as alternative, populations’ active participation in the decision-making and transformations of their cities should be central to all environmental and social agendas. It strengthens communities and produces resilience. Dyonne Boy (NGO Jongo da Serrinha Cultural Group), Marcos Rosa (Curator of the 11th São Paulo Biennial of Architecture), Maria Augusta Bueno (São Paulo Lab), Geisa Lino (Redes da Maré) and José Luis Vallejo (Ecosistema Urbano) will discuss their personal experiences with participatory initiatives and the challenges involved.

CONJUNTO HABITACIONAL: O QUE FAZ A BOA HABITAÇÃO SOCIAL? Abertura da exposição que dá continuidade à investigação do Studio-X Rio sobre o desafio da moradia conta com mesa redonda com arquitetos do MMBB, H+F, Vigliecca & Associados e Cité ArquiteturaA exposição investiga a arquitetura habitacional estatal a partir da pergunta “o que faz a boa habitação social?”. Tendo como ponto de partida o Pedregulho, emblemático conjunto criado por Carmen Portinho e Affonso Eduardo Reidy nos anos 1940, a exposição apresenta mais três casos contemporâneos - Jardim Edite, Parque Santo Amaro V e Residencial Colônia Juliano Moreira - para compor um painel sobre a questão. Seu conteúdo inclui contribuições de arquitetos, moradores e acadêmicos, que trazem suas perspectivas sobre o pensar e o vivenciar estes espaços.

Na ocasião da abertura haverá mesa redonda com Pablo Hereñú e Eduardo Ferroni (H+F Arquitetos), Neli Shimizu (Vigliecca & Associados) e Marta Moreira (MMBB Arquitetos), Pablo Benetti (FAU UFRJ) e Celso Rayol e Fernando Costa (Cité Arquitetura) sobre o projeto da habitação de interesse social.

HOUSING PROJECT: WHAT MAKES GOOD PUBLIC HOUSING?Opening of the exhibition that continues Studio-X Rio’s investigation into the challenge of housing features a roundtable discussion with architects from MMBB, H+F, Vigliecca & Associados and Cité ArquiteturaThe exhibition examines the architecture of state housing, starting with the question “what makes good public housing?” Beginning with the example of Pedregulho, the emblematic housing complex created by Carmem Portinho and Affonso Eduardo Reidy in the 1940s, the exhibition presents three other contemporary cases - Jardim Edite, Parque Santo Amaro V and Residencial Colônia Juliano Moreira - to comprise a panel on the question. It also features contributions from architects, residents and academics who offer their perspectives on the planning and experience of these spaces.

On the occasion of the opening, there will be a roundtable discussion with Pablo Hereñú, Eduardo Ferroni (H+F Arquitetos), Neli Shimizu (Vigliecca & Associados), Marta Moreira (MMBB Arquitetos), Pablo Benetti (FAU UFRJ), Celso Rayol (and Fernando Costa (Cité Arquitetura) on the design of public housing initiatives.
