Introduzindo

A arquitetura Dell FX

Uma visão revolucionária baseada em chassis modulares de 2U com as eficiências de Fontes, Rede, I/O e Gerenciamento compartilhados

Page 27: Soluções Convergentes Dell Blade, VRTX e FX

27

The Dell PowerEdge FX Architecture

The foundation of the FX architecture is a 2U rack enclosure – the Dell PowerEdge FX2 – that can accommodate various sized resource blocks of servers and storage. Resource blocks slide into the chassis, similar to blades, and connect to the shared infrastructure a flexible IO fabric. Over time, Dell will release a wide range of resource blocks for this enclosure.

Also available as an option with the FX2 is the Dell PowerEdge IO Aggregator whichconsolidates the IO connections from the chassis, reducing cabling by up to 8:1.

Próximo passo: Dell Performance Analysis Kit (DPACK)

• DPACK is a Dell proprietary 1:M utility used to log

key server performance metrics while production

workloads are running

• Correlating subsystem performance trends will

often the performance bottlenecks

• Use it to help you find workload bottlenecks

• In addition, DPACK reports individual HD read/write

ratio which can be used in SSD selection (i.e. read-

intensive vs. mixed-use, etc). Eliminate the

guesswork.

Page 50: Soluções Convergentes Dell Blade, VRTX e FX

50

Dell Performance Analysis Kit (DPACK)What to look for: Correlation of CPU utilization to storage subsystem

Virtualized SQL Example• DPACK output is time series traces of key subsystem

performance metrics: HD, CPU, etc.

• In this example, CPU utilization is very low in the region

highlighted by the red box, but the workload is active b/c

data are being transferred (grey box)

• Look closely at the data transfer size during the same

period (yellow box)…significantly lower

• Zooming out you can see CPU utilization vs. data transfer

size correlate: when data transfer size goes down, so

does CPU utilization

• CPU is waiting on data: Speed it up with SSDs

• This is just one example. There are many more.
