Objetivo:

Mostrar ao grupo que, mesmo com um conhecimento lingüístico limitado, utilizando-se técnicas de leitura e compreensão (tais como a identificação da idéia central, reconhecimento de palavras cognatas,reconhecimento de gêneros textuais, etc.), é possível compreender textos em Língua Inglesa.

Por que é importante ler textos em outras línguas (em especial, língua inglesa)?

•Ler textos em outras línguas é de suma importância, pois através desta leitura, torna-se possível um contato com novas culturas e novos conhecimentos.

•A informação é uma ferramenta de trabalho importante e o conhecimento de outro idioma, em especial o inglês, se tornou fundamental para o acesso a informações mais diversificadas.

•Em algum ponto da vida acadêmica, passa-se do patamar onde aprende-se a ler para onde lê-se para aprender.

Qual a finalidade das técnicas de leitura?

As estratégias de leitura podem ser definidas como planos para resolver problemas encontrados na construção do significado do texto.

IMPORTANTE: Nem sempre o objetivo de estudo da língua é a proficiência, mas sim, tornar-se apto a ler textos neste idioma, seja por lazer, trabalho ou estudo.

The purpose of this article is analyzing the basis of WebQuests. During this research, 483 WebQuests (written in Portuguese and available online from July to October, 2007) were counted and surveyed, as well as analyzed. The evaluation was focused on the components and on some indicators linked to usability. The results showed that most failures (concerning components) are on tasks, resources and evaluation; and the biggest failure (concerning usability) is the lack of menu in most of the samples analyzed. It was also verified that only 41% of the WebQuests were really true ones. The other ones were simple WebExercises with daily activities that do not lead the student to take any advantage of the educational potential that the web offers on the knowledge construction.

INGREDIENTS 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie1/2 cup unsalted butter3 tablespoons all-purpose flour1/4 cup water1/2 cup white sugar1/2 cup packed brown sugar8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in

flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Ex-Brazilian president to undergo chemotherapy

Ex-Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will begin chemotherapy in the coming days to treat a malignant tumor in his larynx, a hospital official said Saturday.

Lula, 66, will be treated at Sao Paulo's Syrian-Lebanese Hospital, said hospital spokeswoman Mirtes Bogea.

"This is a localized tumor," noted Bogea. She added that the tumor has not metastasized, a characteristic of most cancerous cells.
