 1-­‐  What’s  your  name?  –  Qual  é  o  seu  nome?  -­‐ My  name  is  Bob.  –  Meu  nome  é  Bob.    2  -­‐  What  do  you  do?  –  o  que  você  faz?  

-­‐ I  work  as  a  cashier.  –  Eu  trabalho  como  um  caixa.  -­‐ I’m  a  cashier.  –  Eu  sou  um  caixa.  

 3  –  Where  are  you  from?  –  De  onde  você  é?  

-­‐ I’m  from  the  United  States.    4  –  Where  do  you  work?  –  Onde  você  trabalha?  

-­‐ I  work  at  McDonald’s.    

Pay  attention  to  the  difference.  –  Preste  atenção  na  diferença.    

Where  do  you  work?  –  I  work  at  McDonald’s.  What  do  you  do?    -­‐  I’m  a  cashier.  /  I  work  as  a  cashier.  

 5  –  When  do  you  wake  up?  –  Quendo  você  acorda?  

-­‐ I  wake  up  at  7  am  every  day.  –  Eu  acordo  as  7  da  manhã  todos  os  dias.    6  –  Who’s  your  best  friend?  –  Quem  é  o  seu  melhor  amigo/a?  

-­‐ My  best  friend  is  Carol.  –  Minha  melhor  amiga  é  Carol.    7  –  How’s  she  doing?  –  Como  ela  está?  /  Como  ela  vai?  

-­‐ She’s  doing  fine.  –  Ela  está  bem.  /  Ela  está  indo  bem.    8  –  How  are  you  doing?  –  Como  vai?  [é  uma  expressão  muito  utilizada  para  se  cumprimentar  as  pessoas  em  inglês.  Você  pode  responder  a  este  cumprimeto  apenas  falando  a  mesma  coisa  “how  are  you  doing?”  para  a  outra  pessoa  quando  estiver  dando  um  “oi”  de  passagem]    9  –  Which  church  do  you  go  to?  –  Qual  igreja  você  vai?  

-­‐ I  go  to  the  Catholic  church.    –  Eu  vou  para  igreja  católica.      

WHY  –  Porquê?    We  use  the  word  WHY  to  ask:  for  what  reason  or  purpose.    –  Nós  utilizamos  o  why  para  perguntar  por  que  razão  ou  motivo.    

 Na  pergunta  iremos  isar  WHY,  já  na  resposta  iremos  usar  BECAUSE.  Veja  os  exemplos  

abaixo.    

1  -­‐  Why  do  you  want  to  learn  English?  –  Porquê  você  quer  parender  inglês?  -­‐ Why  do  you  need  to  learn  English?  –  Porquê  você  precisa  aprender  inglês?  

 2  –  I  want  to  learn  English  because  I  want  to  find  a  better  job.  –  Eu  quero  aprender  inglês  porque  eu  quero  achar  um  trabalho  melhor.        

GOOD  –  BOM  BETTER  –  MELHOR  

 I  have  a  good  job,  but  I  want  to  find  a  better  one.  –  Eu  tenho  um  bom  trabalho,  mas  eu  quero  achar  um  meohor.    There  are  many  uses  for  the  word  GET.  –  Existem  muitos  usos  para  a  palavra  GET.  Neste  caso  ela  significa  conseguir.  Get  a  job  –  Conseguir/arranjar    um  trabalho.      3  -­‐    Why  are  you  learning  English?  –  Porquê  você  está  aprendendo  inglês?  

-­‐ Why  are  you  studying  English?  –  Porquê  você  está  estudando  inglês?    4  –  I  learn  English.  –  Eu  aprendo  inglês.  

-­‐ I’m  learning  English.  –  Eu  estou  aprendendo  inglês.    5  –  I’m  learning  /  studying  English  because  I  want  to  travel  to  Canada.  –  Eu  estou  aprendendo    /  estudando  inglês  porque  eu  quero  viajar  para  o  Canadá.    6  -­‐  Because  one  day  I  will  travel  around  the  world.  –  Porque  um  dia  eu  vou  viajar  por  volta  do  mundo.      

Outra  maneira  de  se  falar  BECAUSE  é  ‘CAUSE  –  Que  é  uma  forma  abreviada  utilizada  em  músicas  e  no  inglês  falado.    

   7  -­‐  ‘Cause  I  want  to  understand  songs  in  English.  –  Porque  eu  quero  entender  músicas  em  inglês.    

8  -­‐  Because  I  wanna  get  a  good  job  and  learning  English  will  help  me  to  achieve  that.  –  Porque  eu  quero  conseguir  um  bom  trabalho  e  aprender  inglês  vai  me  ajudar  a  conquistar  isso.    Wanna    =  WANT  TO.  –  É  uma  contração  também  encontrada  em  letras  de  música  

bem  como  no  inglês  falado.    

9  -­‐  ‘Cause  I  want  to  be  able  to  understand  movies  in  English.  –  Porque  eu  quero  ser  capaz  de  entender  filmes  em  inglês.    10  -­‐  I’m  able  to  speak  in  many  different  languages.  –  Eu  sou  capaz  de  falar  muitas  línguas  diferentes.  However,  I’m  not  able  to  speak  Japanese.  –  No  entanto  eu  não  sou  capaz  de  falar  japonês.      11  -­‐  I’m  able  to…  -­‐  Eu  sou  capaz  ...  

-­‐ I’m  not  able  to…  -­‐  Eu  não  sou  capaz  ...    12  -­‐  Because  I  need  English  for  my  Job.  –  Porque  eu  preciso  de  inglês  para  o  meu  trabalho.    13  -­‐  Because  I  need  it  for  my  studies.  –  Porque  eu  preciso  disso  (inglês)  para  os  meus  estudos.    14  -­‐  Do  you  like  Facebook?  –  Você  gosta  de  Facebook?  

-­‐ Yes,  I  do.  –  Sim.    15  -­‐  Why  do  you  like  it?  –  Proquê  você  gosta  disso  (do  Facebook)  ?  

-­‐ I  like  Facebook  because  I  can  do  business  there  and  chat  with  my  friends.  –  Eu  gosto  do  Facebook  porque  eu  posso  fazer  negócios  lá  e  bater  papo  com  meus  amigos.  

-­‐ I  can  also  practice  English  with  other  students.  –  Eu  posso  também  praticar  inglês  com  outros  estudantes.  

 That’s  why  –  Isso  é  o  porque  /  por  isso  que.                  -­‐          That’s  why  I  like  you.  –  Por  isso  que  eu  gosto  de  você.  

-­‐ That’s  why  I’m  learning  English.  –  Por  isso  que  eu  estou  aprendendo  inglês.  -­‐ That’s  why  I’m  going  home.  –  Por  isso  que  eu  estou  indo  para  casa.  

 The  reason  why  ...  –  A  razão  pela  qual  ...    

-­‐ The  reason  why  I  called  you  is  because  I  needed  to  tell  you  something.  –  A  razão  pela  qual  eu  te  liguei  é  porque  eu  precisava  te  falar  uma  coisa.
