  • A elaborao deste livro nasceu da necessidade de se produzir um material didtico adequado ao Ensino a Distncia (EAD) das disciplinas de Fsica Bsica na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Ele foi construdo a partir de um conjunto de textos que vm sendo utilizados e aprimorados durante vrios anos no projeto-piloto de EAD do Departamento de Fsica da UFMG.

    Acreditamos que para se fazer EAD no basta disponibilizar o material na internet, em um stio muito colorido e com vrias animaes. preciso que se tenha um material impresso de boa qualidade, com uma organizao adequada, concatenao e seqncia lgica das idias, numa linguagem coerente e acessvel ao estudante. Sem isso, quase impossvel aprender fsica estudando de maneira autnoma.

    H ainda a necessidade de se fornecer acesso ao material didtico independente da disponibilidade de um computador, j que nem sempre o acesso aos recursos computacionais possvel. Mesmo quando h essa disponibilidade, difcil aprender fsica na frente do computador apenas lendo os textos durante horas e clicando nos links disponveis.

    A utilizao de um livro voltado para o ensino presencial requer um professor que pondere a linguagem do material, acrescente toda a sua experincia, e modere o ritmo de estudo em sala de aula. Sem essa interveno voc no teria como saber, de antemo, qual ritmo de estudos deveria seguir em cada captulo ou seo do livro. J no EAD, o livro deve suprir a falta do professor, agindo como um roteiro de estudo. Para tanto, ele deve ser dividido em aulas, que contenham uma maior sub-diviso do contedo. No fundo, uma tentativa de se colocar no papel o que o professor faria na sala de aula.

    Mas, lembre-se: esse livro no deve ser a sua nica referncia bibliogrfica. O material j consagrado no ensino presencial uma fonte imprescindvel para o completo aprendizado de fsica bsica, mesmo porque, inegvel a forte influncia destes textos na estrutura e organizao desta obra.

    Os tpicos aqui apresentados seguem a forma histrica. A fsica moderna introduzida ao longo do texto sempre que possvel ou conveniente. O nvel matemtico leva

    em conta que o aluno j fez ou est fazendo um curso introdutrio de clculo. Durante o desenvolvimento das equaes bsicas todos os passos so mostrados, e a matemtica introduzida medida que se faz necessria.

    O trabalho de elaborao, adequao e preparao dos manuscritos e figuras que deram origem a este livro de responsabilidade dos autores da presente obra.
