O Brasil no Mundial Indoor na Polônia

A pacata cidade de Sopot, no norte da Polônia, será a sede da 15ª edição oficial do Campeonato Mundial Indoor, que será disputado de 7 a 9 de março. Fundada no século VII, à beira do Mar Báltico, conta hoje com pouco mais de 41 mil habitantes, mas é muito procurada pelos turistas em toda a região da Pomerânia. Pois o Mundial de Sopot-2014 será na Ergo Arena, inaugurada em 2010 e com capacidade para receber 11 mil espectadores. Entre as centenas de atletas de todo o mundo que lutarão pelo pódio estará a equipe brasileira. Entre os representantes do País, dois são campeões mundiais: Fabiana Murer (salto com vara, Doha-2010, Catar), e Mauro Vinícius “Duda” da Silva (salto em distância, Istambul-2012, Turquia). E Keila Costa, bronze no salto em distância (Doha-2010, Catar). No total, o Brasil conquistou 14 medalhas na história dos Mundiais Indoor, inclusive uma de bronze nos 200 m, ganha por João Batista Eugênio da Silva, nos Jogos Mundiais Indoor de Paris, evento que deu origem aos Mundiais, disputados oficialmente pela primeira vez em Indianápolis-1987, nos Estados Unidos. O presidente da CBAt, José Antonio Martins Fernandes, lembrou que “os atletas brasileiros, mais uma vez, estarão assistidos por uma equipe multidisciplinar, que inclui médico, fisioterapeuta, massagista, psicóloga e nutricionista. Tudo o que dependia da Confederação nós fizemos”. “Agora, vamos torcer por nossos representantes, que alcançaram as fortes marcas de qualificação exigidas pela IAAF”, concluiu o dirigente.

Brazil in the Indoor World Championships in Poland

The quiet town of Sopot, northern Poland, will host the 15th edition of the Official Indoor

World Championships , which will be held on March from 7 to 9. Founded in the seventh

century, to the Baltic Sea , currently has just over 41,000 inhabitants, but is very popular with

tourists throughout the region of Pomerania .

The Indoor World Championships 2014 in Sopot will be at Ergo Arena, which opened in 2010,

with capacity for 11,000 spectators. Among the hundreds of athletes from around the world

who will fight for the podium will be the Brazilian Team.

Between representatives of the country, two are world champions: Fabiana Murer (pole vault,

2010 Doha, Qatar), and Mauro Vinicius "Duda" da Silva (long jump, Istanbul 2012, Turkey).

And Keila Costa, bronze in the long jump (Doha, 2010, Qatar).

In total, Brazil won 14 medals at the World Indoor history, including a bronze in the 200m,

won by João Batista Eugenio da Silva, World Indoor Games in Paris , an event that gave rise to

World officially played for the first time in Indianapolis - 1987 in the United States.

The CBAt´s president, José Antonio Martins Fernandes, remember that "Brazilian athletes,

once again, will be assisted by a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, physical

therapist, massage therapist, psychologist and nutritionist. All that depended on the

A história do Campeonato Mundial Indoor começa em 1985, quando a IAAF organizou em Paris-Bercy, nos dias 18 e 19 de janeiro, os Jogos Mundiais Indoor. Participaram 319 atletas de 69 países e o Brasil teve cinco representantes. Vinte e quatro nações colocaram atletas no pódio. Um dos ganhadores de medalha foi o paraibano João Batista Eugênio da Silva, que levou o bronze nos 200 m.

Em Indianápolis 1987 teve início a série oficial do Mundial Indoor, que neste mês de março, em Sopot, na Polônia, chega à 15ª edição. Até a nona edição, em Birmingham 2003, o Campeonato era disputado nos anos ímpares. Desde Budapeste 2004, porém, o evento passou para os anos pares, para não coincidir com o Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo, disputado ao ar livre.

Desde a competição de Paris 1985, os brasileiros já conquistaram 14 medalhas: três de ouro, cinco de prata e seis de bronze. Os três campeões foram José Luiz Barbosa, nos 800 m, em 1987; Fabiana de

Almeida Murer, no salto com vara, em Doha, em 2010; e Mauro Vinícius Hilário Lourenço da Silva, no salto em distância, em Istambul, em 2012.

José Luiz Barbosa, por sinal, subiu novamente ao pódio em 1989, quando Budapeste foi pela primeira vez sede do Mundial indoor. Na final dos 800 m, ele marcou 1:45.55, recorde sul-americano em pista coberta e medalha de prata na competição.

Na capital húngara, ficou atrás apenas do campeão olímpico da prova, o queniano Paul Ereng, que, com 1:44.84, estabeleceu novo recorde mundial, superando em sete centésimos a marca anterior do britânico Sebastian Coe, atualmente vice-presidente da IAAF. O brasileiro depois melhorou seu recorde para 1:45.43 e ainda disputaria o Mundial de Toronto 1993, quando foi finalista, mas não concluiu o percurso.

The history of the Indoor World Championships

begins in 1985, when the IAAF organized in

Paris - Bercy on January 18 and 19, the World

Finalista dos 400 m no Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo de Moscou, na Rússia, em 2013, quando foi o oitavo colocado. Foi também à final do revezamento 4x400 m, quando o Brasil ficou em sétimo lugar. Na semifinal dos 400 m no Mundial, fez a prova em 44.95 e tornou-se o segundo atleta do País a correr os 400 m em menos de 45 segundos. Foi o número 12 do Ranking Mundial e primeiro da América do Sul no ano passado. Campeão do Troféu Brasil/Caixa de 2013, tem no currículo também o título do Campeonato Ibero-Americano de Barquisimeto, na Venezuela, em 2012.

O ano de 2014 foi o da confirmação do atleta como um dos grandes nomes da história do salto com vara no Brasil. Mais, ainda, ele alcançou a condição ainda de nome importante do cenário internacional ao qualificar-se para a final da prova no Campeonato Mundial de Moscou, na Rússia, em 2013, quando terminou em 11º lugar. Em 2012 já mostrara clara evolução, ao passar de 5,00 m, no início do ano, para 5,45 m, ao final. No ano passado, chegou a estabelecer os recordes sul-americanos indoor, com 5,71 m, e ao ar livre, com 5,82 m. Esta última marca, aliás, o colocou como segundo da América do Sul e sétimo do Ranking da IAAF.

“Duda”, como é chamado no meio atlético, tem alcançado bons resultados nos últimos cinco anos. O auge de sua carreira em competições indoor aconteceu em 2012, em Istambul, na Turquia, quando se tornou o terceiro brasileiro a conquistar o título mundial em pista coberta. Conquistou a medalha de ouro com 8,23 m – saltou 8,28 m na qualificação, marca que lhe deu o 1º lugar no Ranking Mundial Indoor na temporada. Na Olimpíada de Londres (GBR), em 2012, foi finalista e terminou em 7º lugar. Ao ar livre seu recorde pessoal é 8,31 m, marca que garantiu o título do Troféu Brasil/Caixa de Atletismo, em São Paulo (SP), e a sexta posição do Ranking Mundial de 2013. No Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo, em Moscou, na Rússia, alcançou o quinto lugar, com 8,24 m.

Com 20 anos completados em dezembro, o saltador já possui quatro grandes conquistas na carreira. Primeiro na categoria menor, quando ganhou a medalha de prata na primeira edição da Olimpíada da Juventude, em Cingapura-2010. Depois, como juvenil, foi campeão mundial da categoria em Barcelona, na Espanha, em 2012. Em 2013, ao vencer o Campeonato Sul-Americano, em Cartagena, na Colômbia, saltou 5,83 m de estabeleceu novo recorde sul-americano. Também no ano passado obteve a qualificação para o Campeonato Mundial de Moscou. Este ano, superou duas vezes o recorde sul-americano indoor: primeiro, saltou 5,72 m em Malmo, na Suécia, em 08 de fevereiro, e depois, em 15 do mesmo mês em Donetsk, na Ucrânia, ao marcar 5,76 m.

With 20 years completed in December, the athlete already has four major career

achievements. First the smallest category, when he won the silver medal in the first edition of

the Youth Olympics in Singapore, 2010. Then, as a junior, was world champion in the category

Primeiro nome do País a conquistar o título tanto do Mundial Indoor como do Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo (ao ar livre): foi campeã em pista coberta em Doha-2010, no Catar, e depois no Mundial outdoor em Daegu-2011, na Coreia do Sul, quando saltou 4,85 m. Aí, igualou seu recorde sul-americano, estabelecido inicialmente na Espanha em 2010, quando venceu o Campeonato Ibero-Americano em San Fernando. Em Moscou-2013, na Rússia, foi novamente finalista do Campeonato Mundial e terminou em quinto lugar. No Ranking Mundial da temporada foi a sétima, com 4,75 m. No Mundial Indoor tem, ainda, a medalha de bronze ganha em Valência, na Espanha, em 2008. Medalha de prata na Copa do Mundo de Atenas-2006, na Grécia, e bronze na Copa Continental de Split-2010, na Croácia, foi campeã da Diamond League-2010, em Zurique, na Suíça, e ouro no PAN do Rio-2007.

Aos 25 anos de idade, acaba de quebrar o recorde sul-americano dos 60 m indoor que vigorava há 32, ao fazer a prova em 7.19, em São Caetano do Sul. Finalista olímpica do revezamento 4x100 m em Londres 2012, na Grã-Bretanha, e no Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo de Moscou, na Rússia, quando o Brasil estabeleceu novo recorde sul-americano com 42.29. A marca foi a quarta melhor do Ranking Mundial de 2013. Campeã pan-americana do 4x100 m em Guadalajara-2011, no México, em 2013 estabeleceu novos recordes pessoais ao ar livre nos 100 m, com 11.13, e nos 200 m, com 22.76. Ganhou bronze no revezamento medley no Mundial de Menores de Marrakesh-2005, no Marrocos.

Primeira mulher brasileira a subir ao pódio em um Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo, Keila da Silva Costa foi revelada em um programa de iniciação na cidade de Abreu e Lima, na região metropolitana de Recife (PE). Sua primeira conquista aconteceu no Mundial Juvenil-2002, em Kingston, na Jamaica, quando ganhou a medalha de bronze no salto triplo. No salto em distância ganhou bronze, já na categoria adulta, no Mundial Indoor-2010, em Doha, no Catar. Em 2013 melhorou seu recorde brasileiro no triplo, ao vencer o Troféu Brasil/Caixa de Atletismo com 14,58 m (2.0). No salto em distância, seu recorde pessoal é 6,88 m (-0.1) e foi conseguido em 20 de maio de 2007, em Belém (PA).

First Brazilian to the podium at a World Championships, Keila da Silva Costa woman was
