Distribuição: SE USA, México, Antilhas e Ásia Oriental.
Illicium verum – Espécie cujos frutos são utilizados para fins culinários, na indústria farmacêutica, de bebidas e perfumaria.
O nome de Illicium vem do radical latino illicere, que quer dizer “atrair e seduzir”, em decorrência do aroma forte e agradável dos frutos.
